Day 2

Wilpattu

Wilpattu National Park is a prominent wildlife reserve located in the northwest coast of Sri Lanka. It is one of the oldest and largest national parks in the country, spanning an area of approximately 1,317 square kilometres (508 square miles). Established in 1938, the park was declared a protected area in order to preserve its diverse flora and fauna.

Wilpattu is renowned for its unique ecosystem, which includes a combination of dense forests, open grasslands, and numerous natural lakes known as “villus.” The park’s name, “Wilpattu,” translates to “Land of Lakes” in the local Sinhala language, reflecting the significance of these water bodies. These lakes serve as essential sources of water for wildlife, attracting a wide range of animal species

The park is particularly famous for its population of Sri Lankan leopards, which are among the top predators in the area. Other notable wildlife species found in Wilpattu include elephants, sloth bears, water buffaloes, spotted deer, sambar deer, mongoose, crocodiles, and various species of birds.

The Ancient City & The Lion's Kingdom

Anuradhapura & Sigiriya

After your hearty breakfast prepare to depart to Anuradhapura, where you meet the Sri Lankan culture and history.

The second of the destinations in your Sri Lanka vacation is Anuradhapura, one of the ancient capitals. The sacred city is brimming with stories to be discovered, which is why it is also a UNESCO world heritage site.

Sigiriya is UNESCO World Heritage Site, a spectacular Rock Fortress, and is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory.

The City Of Culture

Kandy

Kandy, Sri Lanka’s capital city of culture, is a city never to miss on a Sri Lanka vacation. On the fifth day of your Sri Lanka vacation package, you visit the most sacred place in Sri Lanka; the Temple of Tooth, which protects the tooth relics of Lord Buddha. It is the relic of the real Buddha! This sacred tooth is covered in boxes of gold and jewels, and surprisingly, there are no armed guards to protect it! You take a walk in the city full of restaurants with incredible flavours of Sri Lankan cuisine.

Little England

Nuwara Eliya

Off to Nuwara Eliya on the eighth day of our thrilling Sri Lanka vacation! Now, this is a landscape that is entirely different from the whole of your Sri Lanka vacation, so much so that it is called Little England. The foamy waterfalls like Laxapana, St. Clair’s, and Ramboda, charming rows of tea plantations, the world-famous Ceylon tea factories, European-style buildings, and the vegetable farms have left you mesmerized. This Sri Lanka vacation package includes a stroll in the enticing Victoria Park. You realize that Nuwara Eliya, a popular Sri Lanka vacation destination, is covered with emerald greenery. Udawalawe National Park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, particularly its large elephant population. The park spans over 30,000 hectares and consists of grasslands, forests, and wetlands, providing suitable habitats for various animals and bird species.

Visitors to Udawalawe National Park can embark on safaris to observe the wildlife in their natural habitat. The park is most famous for its elephants, and it offers excellent opportunities to witness these magnificent creatures up close. In addition to elephants, you may also spot other animals such as leopards, water buffalo, crocodiles, deer, and numerous species of birds.

Udawalawe National Park is known for its commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental protection. It serves as a sanctuary for orphaned or injured elephants, with an Elephant Transit Home within the park that rehabilitates and releases them back into the wild.
