the first halt in Negombo.

Of Ancient Splendor
Negombo–Anuradhapura
A journey back in time to the first ancient kingdom of
the island.
The ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura, where history
unfolds. From the 5th century BC to the 11th century
AD, this revered kingdom shaped the destiny of the
island, witnessing pivotal moments such as the
introduction and embrace of Buddhism.
Here also lies the hallowed ground of the oldest living
tree known to be planted by human hands.

significant island located off the northern coast of Sri
Lanka, near the Jaffna Peninsula. It holds great religious
importance for both Buddhists and Hindus, and the
land is shared by these two faiths.

significant sites along the way.Pay a visit to this Catholic pilgrimage site, the Shrine of
Our Lady of Madhu. The church is revered by Catholics
across Sri Lanka and offers a tranquil setting for prayer
and reflection.
Mihintale, a significant Buddhist monument that marks
the spot where the meeting between King
Devanampiya Tissa of Sri Lanka and the Indian Buddhist
monk Mahinda took place, leading to the introduction
of Buddhism to the island.
