The Ancient Splendor
To Yapahuwa - Habarana
Commence the journey exploring the magnificent
fortress of Yapahuwa.
Yapahuwa served as the capital of Sri Lanka in the early
13th century. established after the decline of the
Polonnaruwa kingdom due to South Indian invasions,
The remnants of the palace complex, stupa, and
defensive structures showcase the ingenuity of ancient
Sri Lankan builders.

The First Kingdom
Habarana - Anuradhapura
A journey back in time to the first ancient kingdom of
the island.
The ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura, where history
unfolds. From the 5th century BC to the 11th century
AD, this revered kingdom shaped the destiny of the
island, witnessing pivotal moments such as the
introduction and embrace of Buddhism.
Here also lies the hallowed ground of the oldest living
tree known to be planted by human hands.

- See the eight most sacred places, the “atamasthana” From colossal stupas, a chapter house, monastic complexes, even an ancient university Sri Maha Bodhi, a cutting of the same tree where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment

Majesty of the Ancient Lands
Habarana–Sigiriya–Polonnaruwa
Again to the ancient times to witness the majesty of
more ancient kingdoms.
Step into the realm of Sigiriya, an awe-inspiring
archaeological and technological marvel. Rising majestically into the heavens, this 5th-century fortress
and palace complex stand as a testament to human
ingenuity and perseverance.
Enter the hallowed grounds of Polonnaruwa, the seat
of power and unity during Sri Lanka’s golden age from
the 11th to the 13th century. Amidst the remnants of a
once-great kingdom, lies a trove of invaluable life

To the Last Stronghold
Habarana–Dambulla-Kandy
Leave behind the ancient wonders as you journey
towards the vibrant heart of the central region.
In Dambulla, discover a sanctuary of peace atop a rocky
hill, where nature and spirituality converge. Here lies
the ancient cave temple complex, a sacred site steeped
in history dating back to the 1st century BC.
In Kandy, behold the venerable Temple of the Sacred
Tooth Relic, where the holiest of Buddhist relics, the
sacred tooth of Lord Buddha, is enshrined. This
hallowed site serves as a beacon of spiritual devotion

From Kandy
The program reaches a conclusion after a visit to the
famous temple trio.

temples located in or near Kandy, Sri Lanka, each
holding cultural, religious, and historical importance.
These temples not only hold religious significance but
also serve as important cultural and historical
landmarks, reflecting Sri Lanka’s rich Buddhist heritage
